Art & Fear is an easy to read, clear and concise book on the working habits of the artists. Since both authors are actually working artists, they relate the artist‘s working dilemmas and difficulties in their careers as well as difficulties faced in art making in the real world and existing surroundings, pretty well. Often such difficulties lead to despair and surrender by the experiencing artists. The book offers some artistic strategies to get around some of the problems.

The book has a very practical approach in addressing the issue of quitting the art as practiced in whatever form, it lays down very simple and easy to follow rules regarding creativity and vitality an artist requires, thus eventually emerging as a successful, talented and rich in mind artist. As put quite bluntly by one of the readers “I picked up this book in the middle of a ‘dry spell’ in my art making career. I was looking for some ideas to help me re-ignite the spark”.  One of the many quotes that I like from Art & Fear is “To make art is to sing with the human voice. To do this you must first learn that the only voice you need is the voice you already have."

Surprisingly enough, though Art & Fear has never been advertised nor reviewed by some well-known publication, yet this book is now in its tenth edition.
